There are nearly 90 convalescent hospitals in Alameda and Western Contra Costa Counties. In these hospitals live the frail, the elderly and chronically disabled. A group of concerned Episcopalians who saw overwhelming need and knew "it is better to light one candle than curse the darkness" established AEMCH in 1981. WIth our "one candle" we visit and listen, offer Sacraments, conduct corporate worship services, work with staff, families and community organizations. We take the Church to the institutions and the institutions- when possible- to the churches, for special events and holiday occasions.
